Apprenticeship Program

Mission goals:

Facilitate the transfer of skills and traditional craft to the younger generation.

Increase the accessibility of the trades to traditionally excluded communities

Our Apprenticeship program is the first certified Passive House Apprenticeship program in the state of Maine.

We designed program tracks for those just starting out in the trades as well as those moving into Lead Carpenter and Project Management positions.

A state-approved apprenticeship program provides employers and apprentices with access to support, training opportunities, and funding.

Participants are provided with a schedule of work for on the job training and supplementary in-class training.

Our learning schedule places a focal point on building science and Passive House construction methods.

Introductory apprenticeships last 2 years and include standard fair pay increases on regular intervals. At the completion of the program, apprentices receive a certificate indicating Journeyworker status.

A certified Lead-in training program can be as short as a year and focuses on demonstrated skill competency and leadership capabilities along with PH principles.

We partner with Educate Maine, a non-profit intermediary sponsor, to support our apprenticeship program.

Educate Maine helps us track training hours, train our mentors, and access additional funding opportunities.

Through this partnership, we are hoping to form a cohort of carpentry apprenticeship programs across the state in order to have a greater impact on the industry and qualify for workforce development grants.
