Apprentice: Passive House Builder

We are looking for a full-time Passive House Builder Apprentice to join us on a trial basis over the summer and then enter our Registered Apprenticeship Program in September. No experience required. Compensation range is $20-$22/hr to start (pay based on experience and abilities), plus paid holidays and vacation, health insurance, retirement benefits, family leave, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, and a continued education stipend which will be applied to the Related Technical Instruction (RTI) coursework required in this program.

Apprentices will work 30-40 hours per week on the job site with mentorship from our other crew members. 0-10 hours per week will be spent on relevant coursework (RTIs) to help supplement your learning and provide a solid foundation for decision making in your career. Additional resources and support are available through our intermediary sponsors, Educate Maine.

Job Requirements:

  • Have working knowledge of hand tools (tape measure, hammer, speed square, utility knife, cat’s paw, chalk line, flat bar)

  • Ability to read written instructions

  • Ability to work in accordance with the company safety plan

  • Ability to learn & use all required jobsite tools in a safe manner, including pneumatic and electric/power tools.

  • Ability to work in elevated work environments within OSHA safety standards and company safety plan. 

  • Beginning ability to perform entry level rough carpentry tasks such as: measure and cut correctly, basic wall layout & framing; cut and install sheathing.

  • Beginning ability to perform entry level finish carpentry tasks such as: siding, trim, flooring, etc.

  • Can assist in door and window installation.

  • Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.

  • Ability to complete all Related Technical Instruction (RTI) coursework.
