Our History

Maine Passive House was founded by Danish native Jesper Kruse.  In 2006, while spending a year in Denmark with his young family, Jesper heard about the passive house standard.  He realized that the energy savings associated with passive house construction, as well as the increased comfort, healthfulness and longevity of the homes would be the wave of the future.  When he returned to the U.S., Jesper formed Maine Passive House, and became a certified passive house consultant.

Ten years later Maine Passive House is a national leader in passive house design and construction and has developed proven systems that are uniquely designed for the northern climate.

Jesper and his crew finished our work space in our professional office building. Jesper’s estimate was accurate and he finished the work in the time that he had anticipated. He kept us in the loop about the process and was able to work with us on details and changes along the way. I strongly recommend Maine Passive House to anyone looking for a professional and reliable builder in the area- we couldn’t be happier!
